The São Paulo Botanical Garden covers 164 hectares inside the Fontes do Ipiranga State Park in the Água Funda district in the south of the city. The botanist Frederico Carlos Hoehne founded it in 1928, and it houses the state's Botanical Institute. It sits next to the São Paulo Zoo, so the two fit into one day. It has a botanical museum, the Garden of Linnaeus with its reflecting pool, greenhouses, the Hoehne orchid house, the Lake of the Water Lilies and forest trails. Tickets are R$39.90 at the gate or R$29.90 online, reduced R$19.90 or R$14.90; it opens Monday to Friday 9:00-17:00 and at weekends 9:00-18:00.
