A group of large theme and educational parks in the hill town of Batu, among Indonesia's best-known family destinations. The first opened in 2001, and it has grown into several separate parks, each with its own theme and ticket, the most popular being Jatim Park 2, home to the Batu Secret Zoo and the Museum Satwa. Jatim Park 1 has rides and educational exhibits on culture and science; Jatim Park 2 has a modern zoo with hundreds of species from every continent in designed habitats and a huge museum of mounted animals and skeletons; Jatim Park 3 has a dinosaur park with life-size animatronic models and evening entertainment zones. Each park has its own ticket, around IDR 100,000 or a little more, higher on holidays, and bundles cover more than one park. Choose one or two parks a day, as each needs half a day. Jatim Park 2 is the best pick for children, and the weather in Batu is pleasantly cool.
