A unique experience that takes visitors underground and directly behind the Horseshoe Falls, through tunnels cut into the rock in the nineteenth century, beginning with a lift that descends about thirty-eight metres into the rock beneath the Table Rock platform. The tunnels lead to two portals in the rock face behind the curtain of roaring water, so you see, hear and feel the power of the falls crashing right in front of you, with a thunder that fills the space as if the whole earth were shaking. At the end of the tunnels an outdoor observation deck at the foot of the falls, close to the river's surface, puts visitors in the thick spray to see the immense volume of water smashing below. Each visitor is given a rain poncho. Tickets are about C$33 per adult before tax, per visitor guides, and the visit takes about an hour. It runs all year, and in winter columns of ice form around the falls.
