The symbol of Krabi Town: two towering limestone peaks facing each other across the Krabi River near its mouth, like a natural gateway to the town, rising about a hundred metres above the water and mangroves. They appear on the province's emblem and can be seen from the town's riverbank. Inside one of the peaks are caves of stalactites and stalagmites where human bones were once found, said in local tales to belong to people who sheltered there from an ancient flood. The site is visited by small longtail boat from the town pier, on a short trip through the mangroves between the two peaks. Viewing the peaks from the town bank is free, while the boat trip price is agreed with boatmen at the pier, usually per boat. The trip takes about an hour and sometimes includes a fishing village and fish farms. It suits a quiet half day in Krabi Town, with the riverside night market nearby in the evening and the famous crab sculpture on the promenade.
