Krabi town's best-known temple, on a small hill in its centre, with a gleaming white stucco ordination hall that recalls Chiang Rai's White Temple in colour, though far simpler. A broad stair guarded by two white mythical serpents climbs to it, with a neat garden and big trees around. Inside, the walls are covered in colourful modern murals telling the life of the Buddha and Buddhist tales, with a golden Buddha under a decorated ceiling, and light from the windows softly colours the white hall. It sees few visitors, a pleasant pause on a day in town away from the beaches of Ao Nang. Entry is free and donations are welcome. Modest dress is expected: shoulders and knees covered, and shoes off inside the halls. Krabi town has many mosques and halal restaurants, as most of the province's people are Muslim. Pair it with the riverside night market in the evening and a mangrove boat trip from the town pier.
