Rosario's MACRO contemporary art museum fills an old grain silo on the bank of the Paraná, once part of the port area, designed by the architect Ermete de Lorenzi; its tall cylinders painted green, red, yellow and blue have become one of the city's best-known landmarks, seen from the waterfront and the river. The museum is a branch of the Castagnino Fine Arts Museum, and its collection is among the most important of contemporary Argentine art in the country, with works by artists such as Marta Minujín, Marcos López and León Ferrari and a strong group of Rosario artists. It is shown on the seven floors of the tower overlooking the Paraná. Entry is free, Wednesday to Sunday, with an evening guided tour.
