Malaysia's second-largest zoo after the National Zoo, covering about twenty-two hectares at Ayer Keroh near the city's highway entrance. Founded in 1963, it holds more than twelve hundred animals of over two hundred species. Animals are shown in open enclosures among the trees, the stars including the Malayan tiger, white rhinoceros, Asian elephants, giraffes, the Malayan tapir, orangutans and sun bears, along with many birds from parrots to owls and peacocks. It also has a corner of moving dinosaur models that children love. It opens on weekdays from ten to five and at weekends from nine to six. A non-Malaysian adult ticket costs about ninety ringgit including tax and a child about sixty-four, while Malaysians pay much less. The zoo has run a night safari on selected nights, so check before you go. The paths are long and the sun strong, so come in the morning with water and a hat. You will need a taxi or ride-hailing app from the town centre, and it combines well with the parks and museums clustered around Ayer Keroh.

Two and a half to four hours to walk most of the sections; it is best to start in the morning before the heat builds.
The zoo has two rates, a much lower one for Malaysians and one for non-Malaysians; a non-Malaysian adult ticket is about ninety ringgit according to the official site, and prices can change.
