A lookout on a mountain promontory at Baguio's north-eastern edge, over a deep valley and the green ranges of Benguet, and over the town of Itogon, where the old gold and copper mines gave the place its name; the view reaches as far as the Amburayan Valley. You go down a winding stone stairway from the car park to the viewing deck, and the mountains open in front of you range behind range, cloaked in pine forest, with mist moving through the valleys. The view is clearest early in the morning, before the mist rises. On the way to the deck is a long row of stalls selling mountain produce: fresh strawberries, strawberry jam and highland vegetables, plus the textiles and wood crafts of the Cordillera peoples. It is one of the best places to buy gifts in Baguio. It is crowded at weekends and in season, so come early on a weekday. Visitors usually combine it with nearby Wright Park and The Mansion, the presidential summer residence.
