A park preserving the longest and best-kept surviving section of Beijing's Ming-dynasty city wall, about three kilometres south-east of Tiananmen Square. Here the wall runs a kilometre and a half from Chongwenmen east to Dongbianmen, where the Southeast Corner Tower stands; both are more than 550 years old. The park covers 15.5 hectares, 12.2 of them green space along the towering grey wall, and the path beside it is known in March for plum blossom among the trees. The park is free at any hour, while the corner tower and the walk on the ramparts cost CNY 10, Tuesday to Sunday from 8.30 am to 5 pm, last entry 4.30 pm, closed on Mondays, per visitor guides. Beijing's main railway station is close by.
