The world's only Moomin museum: Tove Jansson's white hippo-like creatures, known worldwide from the books and the Japanese animation, live in the Tampere Hall concert house — and the museum rests on Jansson's originals: more than two thousand drawings and book illustrations, three-dimensional models of famous scenes built by her partner Tuulikki Pietilä, and the blue five-storey Moominhouse with astonishing interior detail. The style is calm and dark like a forest: lit scenes discovered one by one, an audio guide in several languages telling the stories, and a corner for the small with toys and books. Children adore it and adults find what they did not know about Jansson the painter and artist. Ten minutes from the station, and ninety minutes suffice. The shop sells the genuine Moomin, not the copy.
