The Egidio Feruglio Paleontology Museum in Trelew is both a research centre and an exhibition, named after the geologist Egidio Feruglio and one of Argentina's leading scientific institutions in palaeontology, ancient plants and fossil footprints. Its permanent exhibition tells Patagonia's natural history over millions of years, with fossils of land and sea animals and plants. Its stars are the giant dinosaurs its researchers have found in the Chubut desert, including a life-size reconstruction of Patagotitan, one of the largest dinosaurs known, filling a whole hall. Through glass windows visitors watch the lab where scientists clean fossils, and a special lab and collections visit can be booked. The museum opens every day, and a visit takes an hour and a half to two hours. It usually pairs with a trip to Punta Tombo or the nearby town of Gaiman.
