The Xul Solar Museum is devoted to the Argentine painter Alejandro Xul Solar (1887-1963), one of the country's most original and unusual artists, who invented imaginary languages, games, symbols and dream cities in bright colours. It opened on 13 May 1993 in the house where he lived, run by a foundation that keeps his legacy. It shows works chosen by Xul Solar himself, with objects, sculptures and documents from his personal archive, and the house keeps his library of some three and a half thousand volumes. The interior architecture is striking in itself: bare-concrete rooms with levels, ramps and unexpected skylights, behind the front of a traditional old house. It opens Tuesday to Saturday, with a daily afternoon guided tour.
