The Londrina Art Museum is a museum in the centre of the northern Paraná city, created by decree and opened on 12 May 1993; its opening show included works by the writer and artist Menotti Del Picchia and the sculptor Victor Brecheret. The museum's finest piece is its building: the city's old bus station, designed in 1952 by the architect João Batista Vilanova Artigas, one of the pioneers of modern architecture in Brazil. It served as the bus terminal until 1988, when the station moved, and it is listed as historic and artistic heritage. It stands a few steps from the Cine Teatro Ouro Verde, also designed by Artigas in the same year, so the two together give a picture of 1950s architecture when Londrina was a rising coffee city.
