The Pelé Museum is devoted to the Brazilian football legend Pelé, who made his name playing for Santos FC. It opened in 2014 among the events surrounding the World Cup in Brazil, in two historic mansions in the Valongo district, one of them a ruin restored to house the museum. Over more than four thousand square metres it shows Pelé's belongings, trophies, shirts and photographs, with interactive exhibits telling the story of his career. Its creation helped revive the historic district around the port of Santos, which had been neglected. Entry is free, and it is near the historic tram station and the Coffee Museum, so they combine easily on a walking tour of the historic centre.
