The Museum of Science and Technology of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul opened on 9 December 1998. Its permanent exhibition has about 700 interactive experiments that visitors touch and run themselves, arranged in sections on the universe, the Earth, the environment and humankind, which makes it a good choice for families. Its collection runs to millions of pieces, including fossils from the Paleorrota region of southern Brazil, a large display of birds and mounted animals, and collections of Brazilian minerals. Tickets are R$54 and R$27 reduced, free up to age 4; it opens Tuesday to Friday 9:00-17:00 and at weekends 10:00-18:00.
