One of Phuket's loveliest and calmest beaches, in a curved bay at the island's far south between two green headlands near Promthep Cape. Soft white sand and clear water, and none of the rows of hotels and bars that fill the west-coast beaches, so locals and residents favour it at weekends. Behind the beach lies Nai Harn Lake, a freshwater lake with a walking and running path looping around it and the Buddhist temple of Wat Nai Harn at one end. On the north side of the bay a rocky path leads to sea views, a small green island sits offshore, and the sunset here is one of Phuket's best. There is no fee, and parking is close by. The beach has food sellers and umbrellas and chairs for hire, with some small restaurants on the road behind. The sea is calm and clear from November to April; from May to October waves are high and rip currents dangerous on the west coast, so obey the red flags. Its water suits families in the calm season, but keep away from the rocky ends. It is about ten minutes by car from Promthep Cape, so pair them in half a day: a swim in the afternoon, then sunset from the cape or from the beach itself.

Yes, in the calm season from November to April; it is quieter than the west-coast beaches, with no bars.
