The original is entirely real beneath your feet โ the projection never touches it but surrounds: technology serving the stone, not replacing it, under strict archaeological control. Hence guides recommend it before the Forum, not after: it trains the eye to read the bare ruins to come.

Beneath Rome's provincial palace, steps from the Vittoriano, sleep two Roman villas of the imperial elite โ found with their mosaic floors, baths and marbles under the cellars, and turned into Italy's most successful narrated archaeological show: you walk glass gangways over the real rooms while light and projection rebuild walls, columns and the fires that buried them around you โ the ruins resurrected room by room to a storyteller's voice (daily English tours). The finale raises the curtain on a greater neighbour: a hall explaining, by model and projection, the adjoining Trajan's Column โ its two-hundred-metre carved ribbon a complete Dacian war โ sending you out to view it through the window with a knowing eye. A perfectly built hour for anyone worn by silent ruins: here the stones genuinely speak โ and booking is near-mandatory for the small groups.
