The bread is baked on site every day, which is the real difference from any tourist sandwich nearby.
A small sandwich shop two minutes from the Trevi Fountain, and one of the best-known addresses for good fast food in central Rome — a rare exception in an area dominated by expensive tourist restaurants. It bakes its own ciabatta daily and builds sandwiches on it with classic Italian fillings, alongside sharing boards of cured meats and cheeses for two. Portions are generous and prices moderate, and the quality is why there is usually a queue outside at lunch. The shop is narrow with very few tables, and waiting at peak times is normal. Come before one o'clock or after three. Closed Tuesdays; open the rest of the week from noon to ten at night. Note for Muslim travellers: the house specialty is cured meat, most of it pork — the name itself means "bread and salami." Vegetarian and cheese options exist, but if you want a halal restaurant, see Luna Caprese five minutes away.
