Itapetinga State Park is a nature reserve in southern São Paulo state, spread across Atibaia, Bom Jesus dos Perdões, Mairiporã and Nazaré Paulista, created by decree on 30 March 2010 to give formal protection to the remaining forests of the Serra do Itapetinga. Together with the Cantareira and Itaberaba state parks and the Pedra Grande natural monument, it forms a mosaic of reserves known as the «Contínuo Cantareira», a broad green corridor north of the capital. It is home to many species endangered in the state and protects springs of key river basins that feed the Cantareira System, which supplies part of greater São Paulo's water. The area suits walks in the Atlantic Forest and mountain views near Pedra Grande. Access rules and open trails change; check with the state forestry foundation before going.
