A pretty waterfall in a small eucalyptus wood near Otavalo, dropping nearly twenty metres into a rocky pool amid spray and cool breeze. The Kichwa people hold it sacred, and many bathe here before the Inti Raymi sun festival in June. You reach it on an easy shaded path among the trees, past small craft stalls, until the white falls appear between rocks and green plants. A side trail climbs to the top of the falls for a view from above, crossing a small wooden bridge. Nearby Peguche village is known for traditional weaving workshops, where you see hand looms at work and buy straight from the craftspeople. It is a short taxi ride or a country walk from Otavalo. The path can be slippery after rain, and it is busy at weekends. Respect the place's sanctity for local people.
