Pont de la Margineda is an old stone bridge with one high arch over the Gran Valira river, near the village of Santa Coloma in Andorra. Its back rises like a hump, its path is paved with stones, and white water rushes below between the rocks. The bridge was built in the 14th to 15th century Its walls are granite, while the arch stones are pumice to keep it light. It is listed in Andorra's cultural heritage. You walk across the bridge from bank to bank, looking down at the river. From the bank you see the whole arch over the water with mountains and forest behind. In spring the water rises and the river grows stronger. A modern bridge beside it carries the road. The bridge is 3.5 km south-west of central Andorra la Vella and 1.2 km south of Santa Coloma church. It is open and free. The stones are slippery after rain, and keep out of the river when it is high.
