The church of Santa Coloma is a very old small stone church in the village of Santa Coloma, south of Andorra la Vella. Its standout feature is a rare round bell tower of grey stone with four tiers of arched windows, rising beside a simple nave roofed with stone slabs. It is counted among Andorra's oldest churches, with parts dating from before the Romanesque style. The round tower was added later and is rare in the region. It once held old wall paintings whose originals were moved to museums. It is listed in Andorra's cultural heritage. You walk around the church on the grass among the trees, seeing the round tower from every side, the low stone porch and the rocky mountains behind. The spot is quiet, near the river. It is a church, so go in quietly if it is open. The church is 2.4 km south-west of central Andorra la Vella and 1.2 km north of the Margineda bridge, so you can walk to both. Viewing from outside is free; the interior opens in certain seasons.
