Praia das Conchas, «Shell Beach», is a small cove in the Peró district of Cabo Frio, in the Lakes Region of Rio de Janeiro state, set between two rocky headlands just south of the long Praia do Peró. The beach is known among fans of surf casting, fishing from the shore; the fish most often caught here are grouper, bluefish and mullet. It looks out over the islands scattered off the Cabo Frio coast, and its sheltered cove keeps the water calm on many days. Kiosks and restaurants line the shore, with live music in season. It suits anyone after a smaller, friendlier beach than the busy ones in the town centre, and pairs easily with Praia do Peró in a single day.
