Boldró is a beach on the main island of Fernando de Noronha, a volcanic archipelago in the Atlantic 545 kilometres from Recife, most of which was declared a national park on 14 October 1988 to protect its endemic species and the gathering area of its spinner dolphins. The beach is reached by walking down from the base of the Tamar sea-turtle conservation project, so the two pair easily in one outing. Above it, the Boldró lookout is one of the island's favourite sunset spots, where visitors gather at the end of the day around a café with relaxed music, and nearby the Forte de São Pedro do Boldró looks out to the famous Dois Irmãos hills. The beach suits swimming and walking, then staying for sunset. The island charges visitor fees, and some trails are booked with the park authority with daily limits; check the rules before travelling.
