Guaiúba is a small cove of fine, pale sand in Guarujá, about 790 metres long, in the Jardim Guaiúba neighbourhood near Tombo and Astúrias beaches, at the south-western end of the island on which Guarujá stands. It is an upmarket area of holiday homes among green hills, giving the beach a calm far from the crowds of the central beaches. Forested rocky headlands enclose the cove on both sides, making it feel intimate and sheltered, overlooked by hills that screen out the town's bustle. It neighbours Tombo beach, a repeated Blue Flag winner for cleanliness, and the two fit into one walk along the coast road. The beach suits a quiet day of swimming and relaxing, with fewer facilities than the big beaches, so bring water and food. It is reached by car from central Guarujá; go on a weekday, or in the morning in summer.
