Milionários, the «Millionaires'» beach, is a beach in São Vicente, next to Santos, considered one of the town's smartest for its location and calm water, with short, narrow strips of sand, a pattern unusual on Brazil's south-east coast and more typical of the south. Its name comes from the upscale apartment blocks along it, or, in another version, from the costly boats whose owners anchored in the bay to enjoy the spot. It is a narrow strip of white sand divided by rocks and the tide into five short stretches facing São Vicente Bay, the largest and busiest at the foot of the nearly seventy-metre-high Ilha Porchat. The beach is slowly losing sand as the sea level rises, and works were carried out to protect the seafront and the walls of neighbouring buildings. It suits calm swimming and a stroll near Ilha Porchat, especially at low tide.
