The São Vicente cable car is an aerial ropeway in São Vicente, the city that adjoins Santos, linking Itararé Beach with the top of Morro do Voturuá, which opens a view over Morro do Japuí, the bay and both cities. The line is about 700 metres long, 560 metres of them over Atlantic Forest, and runs at 3.8 kilometres an hour, so the ride takes around 11 minutes. It opened in 2002, can carry up to 20,000 passengers a month and has carried more than a million people since it opened. The ride makes a calm hour after the beach, with views over São Vicente Island and the old Pênsil bridge nearby. Pick a clear day; check prices and hours before going.
