A classical Chinese garden in the old town of Jiading in north Shanghai, built in the 15th century as the private garden of Gong Hong, head of the Ministry of Works under the Ming; it is one of the four famous gardens of Shanghai, near the old Jiadingzhou Bridge street. It was formed by joining three Ming private gardens with the grounds of an old temple, and it falls into four sections around ponds, rockeries and pavilions; the maples around the Qingjingtang pond are famous for their colours in late November and early December. Entry is free; it reopened in September 2026 after renovation and is open from 6 am to 5 pm, from 5 am in summer, per visitor guides.
