The Sesc Bertioga Nature Reserve is a stretch of coastal Atlantic Forest run by São Paulo state's Sesc social-service organisation, 700 metres from the entrance to its holiday centre in Bertioga, devoted to environmental education and to the plants and animals of the coast. Its best-known feature is the «Trilha do Sentir», a raised boardwalk with three loops of 120, 450 and 960 metres built for accessibility, along with the Tucum trail and a play garden. Environmental educators lead free walks, including outings to see native orchids, with limited places and sign-up up to thirty minutes before. The reserve usually opens Tuesday to Sunday by day, with seasonal closures, and group visits are booked ahead. Bring insect repellent, sunscreen and water, and minors must come with a guardian. Check Sesc's monthly programme before going.
