A bobsleigh and luge track on Mount Trebević, built for the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics. Construction began on 1 June 1981 and finished on 30 September 1982, to a design by the architect Gorazd Bučar. About 20,000 spectators watched the luge and 30,000 the bobsleigh at the 1984 Games, and the track then hosted World Cup races until the Yugoslav wars began in 1991. It was damaged during the siege of Sarajevo, when it was used as an artillery position, and defensive holes from those days remain in one of its last turns. After the war it was covered in colourful graffiti and became a place for walks and cycling; restoration began in 2014 with the removal of overgrowth and graffiti and a protective coating. The site is open and free, and visitors walk along the winding concrete channel among the pines. Many come up on the Trebević Cable Car and walk a short way from the upper station, or drive up the mountain road. Stay on roads and marked trails.
