The Sobrado do Porto, or «Sobradão do Porto», is a large two-storey house built in 1846 in central Ubatuba, a witness to the 19th-century heyday of the town's port, which shipped much of the Paraíba Valley's produce. The state listed the house in 1975 for its historic and architectural value, and since 1987 it has been home to Ubatuba's arts and culture foundation, which also runs the Lagoinha ruins, hosting cultural activities and exhibitions. It makes a short stop on a walk through the town centre near the seafront, a glimpse of Ubatuba's past before it became a beach town. Check the exhibition programme and opening hours.
