A historic park beside Medan's Grand Mosque that was a royal garden of the Deli sultanate, centred on a large rectangular pool said to have been where the palace household and the sultan's family bathed, bordered by old trees and paths. The park has been renewed as a tidy public garden with fountains, paved walks and benches, and the Grand Mosque with its black domes is mirrored in the pool in a lovely scene, especially at sunset prayer when the domes are lit. Entry is free and the park is open to visitors; townspeople come in the late afternoon to sit and stroll. Make it a rest after visiting the nearby Grand Mosque and Maimun Palace, all remains of the Deli sultanate in one place.
