One of Lombok's loveliest beaches, a horseshoe bay ringed by green hills, with clear, calm turquoise water and two neighbouring beaches of different sand: fine white sand on one side and large grains like peppercorns on the other, about six kilometres east of Kuta. The water inside the bay is calm, good for swimming and paddling, with umbrellas and loungers for hire, and rocky headlands at either end. On the neighbouring hill is Bukit Merese, which gives the finest view of the whole bay, so the two usually share a visit. Entry is a token fee, usually paid with parking, with umbrellas, loungers and boats extra. Shade is scarce, so bring sun cream and water. Come in the morning to swim in the calm water, then climb Bukit Merese in the late afternoon for sunset. Small vendors are many here too, so decline politely.

Inside the bay the water is usually calm and shallow, fine for children with supervision. Avoid the rocky ends and the mouth of the bay.
