The best-known viewpoint in the Wuyi Mountains, a red rock summit rising above the sixth bend of the Nine-Bend River; its name means «Wandering in Heaven», and it is said that standing on top with clouds below feels like walking above them. A steep stone path cut into the side of the cliff climbs to it, with narrow railed stairways, and from its platforms the river unfolds as it loops around the mountains, the bamboo rafts below looking like little sticks on the water. Around the summit and on its rocks are carved inscriptions left by writers over the centuries, among them those by the Huma stream at the top, and at the same bend lies Echo Rock, bearing a phrase by the philosopher Zhu Xi on time flowing like water, near the academy he founded and taught at by the fifth bend. The peak lies within the main area, free to enter since 2025 with booking together with the compulsory park bus at CNY 70 for one day, open from 7:00 to 18:00 in summer and 7:30 to 17:30 in winter, per visitor guides. Climb in the morning before the heat and the crowds, and wear comfortable shoes.
