One of Lombok's loveliest waterfalls, in dense forest on the slopes of Mount Rinjani near Senaru village in the north of the island. The water pours from some forty-five metres in a broad curtain of dozens of streams into a wide pool wreathed in heavy spray, like a scene from a film. The way there is a fun adventure: it starts down steps to the nearer Sendang Gile falls, then continues on foot for about half an hour to an hour through forest, crossing the river and water channels and sometimes wading. Those who arrive can swim in the very cold pool or stand in the spray. Entry is a token fee, and a local guide from the village is usually requested for an agreed fee, useful for crossing the tricky parts. Expect to get completely wet, so bring a change of clothes and a waterproof bag for your phone. Come in the morning in the dry season, as after heavy rain the river surges and crossing may be banned. Combine it with Sendang Gile falls on the same visit, as they share the trail.

For active families with older children, yes, with a guide; young children can stop at the nearer, easier Sendang Gile. The path is slippery and sometimes needs wading.
