A park on the bank of the Jin River in south-east Chengdu, best known for the Wangjiang Tower, «the tower overlooking the river», originally called Chongli Pavilion: a late-19th-century timber tower of four storeys, about 28 m high, square in its two lower floors and octagonal in the upper two, under a glazed-tile roof. The park holds a group of old buildings protected as a national monument since 2006, among them the Zhuojin Tower running parallel to the river and the Poetry Recitation Tower, surrounded by dense bamboo groves and shady walks, and it is linked with the memory of the Tang-dynasty poet Xue Tao. The heritage area costs CNY 20 and is open from 9 am to 6 pm, while the garden area is free and stays open until 9 pm, per visitor guides.
