A covered bridge over the Jin River in central Chengdu with a large restaurant inside, one of the city's favourite places to eat and stroll in the evening; an earlier bridge on this spot is often linked to the bridges Marco Polo described in the 13th century. It was renovated in 1677 as the Changhong Bridge, then a two-level wooden structure, and rebuilt several times after floods swept it away. As part of the city's river restoration in the 1990s, the damaged old bridge was taken down and redesigned with three arches and a traditional roof, taking the name Anshun Covered Bridge. Crossing is free, and it looks best after sunset, when its arches are lit and reflected in the river; the restaurant serves Sichuan dishes, and halal food is not guaranteed there.
