Five hours for a typical family — the wisdom is the spine: Masoala early before crowd-humidity, elephants at their swim/feed slot, then savannah, children closing at the huge adventure playground. Restaurants are Swiss-acceptable and picnics welcome.
It is not a display but a piece of country: 11,000 m² of genuine Madagascan flora with animals truly loose — lemurs leap overhead glassless, and walking 'in search' is the experience. The hall is also a real conservation pact funding the mother Masoala reserve.
The adjoining Wildnispark: deer and boar in open forest, free, no time limits — for when the ticket is spent but children thirst for more, or for a zero-franc 'zoo' another day. One tram stop past the main gate.

The new Lewa savannah completes the trio: giraffes, rhinos and hyenas on an open African plain. The site itself is forest on the Zürichberg, reached directly by tram 6 from the centre. Prices are Swiss, value higher: a full family day engineered with Swiss precision — and the free Wildnispark deer forest neighbours it for a cheaper finale.
