**The claim is very common and unproven — the documented model is Neuschwanstein in Germany.** ⚠ **What is said**: **that Disney based the Sleeping Beauty castle on the Alcázar of Segovia**, repeated in many guidebooks. ✅ **What is actually documented**: **Bavaria's Neuschwanstein is the stated reference** for the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland, **Walt Disney visited it himself**, **and the architectural resemblance is clear**. ⚠ **No company source mentions Segovia.** ✅ **Where the confusion probably comes from**: **the conical towers with their steep blue roofs** — **exactly the mental image of a «fairytale castle»**; ⚠ **and Segovia plainly has them**, **so the association is visual and understandable**. ⚠ **The irony**: **those conical roofs are not medieval at all** — **they were added in the rebuilding after the 1862 fire**, **in the European Romantic manner of the 19th century** — ✅ **the very manner in which Neuschwanstein was built (1869)**. ✅ **So the resemblance is real, but because both are children of the same taste**, **not because one copied the other**.
