The Archaeological Museum of North Macedonia occupies one of the large columned buildings of the Skopje 2014 project on the north bank of the Vardar, right beside the Stone Bridge, and holds the country's main archaeological collection. The galleries run from prehistory to the Middle Ages: finds from the Neolithic settlement of Tumba Madžari on the edge of Skopje, the rich graves of Trebenište near Ohrid, Roman sculpture and inscriptions, and Byzantine and medieval objects. The museum offers virtual tours of both Trebenište and Tumba Madžari on its website, a useful preview before you go. The museum's own price list gives 400 denars for foreign visitors, 200 for students with an ISIC or Euro 26 card and 700 for a family, with a guided tour included. It opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00, with last tickets at 17:00, and entry is free for everyone on the first Saturday of each month.
