Čifte Hamam is an Ottoman bathhouse in Skopje's Old Bazaar, built in the mid-15th century by the Bosnian commander Isa Bey Isaković to give his endowment a steady income. Its name comes from the Turkish çift, «two» or «pair», because the building has two main parts. The men's and women's changing rooms were separate, with a shared bathing area, and there were three separate hot rooms, one with a pool for the ritual bath used by Skopje's Jews. Large and small domes cover the building, pierced by small skylights. It no longer works as a bath: since 2001 it has been an exhibition hall of the National Gallery of North Macedonia, like the nearby Daut Pasha Hamam. A small fee is charged during exhibitions, so check the programme before you go; the domes are worth seeing from inside either way.
