Arena Fonte Nova is a football stadium of about 48,000 seats, built on the site of the old Fonte Nova, where part of the stands collapsed in 2007 and killed seven people. The old ground was demolished in 2010, some of its concrete was reused in the new one designed by architects from Braunschweig in Germany, and it opened in 2013. It overlooks the Dique do Tororó lake near the historic centre. It hosted the 2013 Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup, including the Netherlands' 5-1 win over world champions Spain, then football at the 2016 Olympics and the 2019 Copa América. It is the home of Esporte Clube Bahia. The arena runs a tour through the dressing rooms, press room, boxes and tunnel out to the pitch, Wednesday to Sunday at 10:00 and 14:00, booked ahead; the tour is R$60 and the Bahia club museum R$30, with free parking. There are no tours on match days, holidays or event days.
