ARTIS is the Netherlands' oldest zoo and one of Europe's oldest (1838) — and more than a zoo: a historic botanical garden, museum, planetarium and aquarium, all in one green precinct in the heart of the city, its nineteenth-century heritage buildings among old trees making a wander a pleasure in itself.
