Shanghai's largest park, 140 hectares at the end of Century Avenue in Pudong, designed by the British firm LUC and opened in 2000; its lawns, woods, large lake and flower gardens are laid out in seven areas, near the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. Families come to cycle, hire boats on the lake, fly kites and picnic on the grass, and spring brings flower displays such as tulips. Since May 2024 its fences have come down and it is free and open around the clock, while boats cost extra, per visitor guides.
