The Curuzu Stadium, officially the Estádio Leônidas Sodré de Castro, is Paysandu's football ground in Belém's São Brás district, holding about 16,200. It is called «Curuzu» for its closeness to Rua Curuzu and nicknamed the «City's Grandpa» because it is the oldest stadium in Pará state, bought by the club in July 1918. The ground has seen memorable moments in Paysandu's history: on 4 July 1997 one of the fastest goals in football history was scored here, four seconds into a match. Here the club beat Avaí 4–0 on 22 December 2001 to win Brazil's second division and earn promotion to the top flight, and in April 2002 it won the Copa Norte on this pitch. Paysandu and its rival Remo are the twin poles of football in Belém; the big «Re-Pa» derbies are usually played at the larger Mangueirão, while Curuzu offers a closer, more intimate atmosphere among the club's fans. Tickets through the club's channels, by fixture list.
