The Estadio Monumental, River Plate's stadium, is the largest in Argentina and South America, holding about 85,000 people. It opened on 26 May 1938 and is named after former club president Antonio Vespucio Liberti. It is home to River Plate and the Argentina national team, hosted the 1978 World Cup final between Argentina and the Netherlands, and has staged several Copa América finals. The stadium holds the River Museum, telling the story of the club and Argentine football through trophies, shirts, photos and interactive displays, with guided tours into the stadium to the stands, dressing rooms and pitchside. The museum alone is paid, and the guided tour costs more. Times change on match and concert days, so check the official site before going.
