The Hotel Globo is a historic building on Praça São Frei Pedro Gonçalves in the historic centre of João Pessoa, built in 1929 by the hotelier Henriques Siqueira, known as «Seu Marinheiro», and one of the city's grandest hotels in its day. Today it is a museum showing the Art Deco furniture and objects used by its guests. It was listed by the Paraíba heritage institute in 1980 for its singular architecture and features typical of the city in the first half of the 20th century, and it is part of João Pessoa's historic centre, listed by the national heritage institute in 2009. After years of neglect, a court ruling in 2015 obliged the city to restore it, and it reopened to the public in 2016. Its finest feature is its garden overlooking the Sanhauá River, where visitors gather to watch the sun set over the river and mangroves, one of the city's loveliest sunset views. Entry is usually free; check times.
