The Feira do Largo da Ordem, officially the Garibaldi Art and Crafts Fair, fills the Largo da Ordem square and the streets of Curitiba's historic centre every Sunday. It began informally in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when members of the hippie community laid out and sold their crafts, which is why locals still call it the Feira Hippie; as stalls and visitors grew, the city took over its organisation on 13 June 1971. Today it is one of the city's attractions, with around a thousand stalls of crafts, clothing, local food, toys, antiques and second-hand records, plus cultural performances. It runs every Sunday from 9:00 to 14:00, and early morning is calmest for a stroll.
