Stuttgart's main football stadium and the home ground of VfB Stuttgart, with a capacity of over sixty thousand. Its history is long: it opened in 1933 and its name has changed repeatedly over the decades โ carrying political, sporting and commercial sponsor names in turn, which reflects Germany's own twentieth-century history. It has been rebuilt and extended more than once, most recently converted to a pure football ground by removing the athletics track. It hosted matches at the World Cups of 1974 and 2006 and at the European Championship of 2024. One essential practical point: this is a working stadium, not a sight. Visiting means either attending a match โ Bundesliga tickets are sold in advance and go quickly โ or joining a guided stadium tour, held at set times outside match days and covering the dressing rooms, the tunnel and the stands. Check the fixture and tour schedule before planning; outside those there is nothing to visit.

Tickets are sold through the club's website weeks ahead and go quickly, especially for big fixtures. The south stand is the standing home end โ a distinctive experience but loud and unsuitable for small children. For ordinary seating, buy in the side stands. Check the bag and entry rules before going.
The Mercedes-Benz Museum and the Porsche Museum, both in Stuttgart and among the finest car museums in the world. If sport specifically interests you the stadium tour is the option, but it needs booking and a set time.
