Mini Mundo, Little World, is an open-air park in Gramado holding a miniature town of more than 6,000 square metres, its buildings faithful copies of real ones at one twenty-fourth of their size. It began in 1981 as a gift from a father and grandfather to two children in the family, a dolls' house for the girl and castles with trains for the boy, beside the family hotel, and grew until it opened to the public in 1983. Today it has more than 140 models: European castles such as Germany's Neuschwanstein, railway stations, harbours and an airport where everything moves, little trains running between the houses, and famous Brazilian buildings, all lit up as evening falls. It suits families and children above all, and a visit takes an hour or two. It lies near Lago Negro, so the two are easy to combine on foot.
